By Train
There is an Amtrak station at West Glacier. Please visit Amtrak for more information.
From Columbia Falls:
Drive 10 miles east on Highway 2. You will pass Mile Marker 147. Continue another 0.6 miles then turn right (south) at Under Canvas® Glacier sign. (It is the next right after Glacier General Store)
From West Glacier:
Drive 5 miles west on Highway 2. You will pass Mile Marker 148. Continue 0.4 miles then turn left (south) at Under Canvas® Glacier sign (turnoff is opposite the Dew Drop Inn).

- Where do you fly into for Glacier National Park?
Glacier Park International Airport, Kalispell, MT (40 minutes from Under Canvas Glacier).
- How far is Glacier National Park from Yellowstone National Park?
Glacier National Park is a six-hour drive from the North Entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Under Canvas Glacier is just under six hours from Under Canvas North Yellowstone – Paradise Valley and six and a half hours from Under Canvas West Yellowstone.
- Are dogs allowed in Glacier National Park?
Pets are allowed in developed areas such as: in your cars while driving park roads, picnic areas, along roads when you are stopped, in parking areas, and in boats on lakes where motorized watercraft are permitted. Check out our blog on Things to Do Outside of Glacier National Park.
- When is the best time to visit Glacier National Park?
Most people consider late-June through mid-September the best time to visit Glacier, because they can drive Going-to-the-Sun Road, raft and fish the rivers, hike the trails, and explore the park. Under Canvas Glacier is open from June 6 – September 9, 2024.
